"Plitvice Lakes Adventure"

The highlights of this multi-activity - "Canoeing Croatia" - adventure program are hiking, biking and canoeing along the lakes and waterfalls of world heritage site - Plitvice Lakes National Park in Lika, Croatia. Wonderful landscapes of 16 lakes and hundreds of waterfalls were used in making movies like the Winnetou ”Schatz im Silbersee”.

Canoeing on Mreznica, Zrmanja and Krupa rivers in Dalmatia and rafting on Una River along the border between Croatia and Bosnia are equally unforgetable "Canoeing Croatia" experiences.

On this "Canoeing Croatia" adventure you will stay in local family houses in Korana Village, a small romantic place by the waterfall and the river of the same name in Plitvice Lakes National Park. The houses are small, with roof traditionally made of wooden tiles, with simple rooms and perfect surroundings – meadows, hills, river and waterfalls.

The peaceful atmosphere will make you sleep well and all other time is spent outdoors – including breakfasts or barbecue picnics by the river, in the garden full of flowers and butterflies.

ITINERARY

Day 1- Saturday: Arrival to Korana Village in Plitvice Lakes National Park (transfer from Zagreb airport and/or train station is available). Get-together barbecue party in the evening by the river.

Day 2: Bicycling through the park to Proscansko Lake, the highest and second biggest of 16 lakes. Bike along the Black River to its source and explore the “Silbersee” - in a canoe or in a walk after picnic. Late in the afternoon we will follow the lakes and waterfalls route to a traditional Lika House restaurant for a dinner.

Day 3: Expedition into canyon and waterfalls of upper Mreznica, with lots of swimming and fun. This is the most beautiful part of the river, where the water temperature in Summer can reach 25 degrees Celsius. We travel down deep, narrow canyon and many waterfalls - up to 10 meters high. Later in the day we shall visit Rastoke mills, streams and waterfalls for a romantic dinner.

Day 4: An easy day for exploring lower Plitvice Lakes, big waterfalls and caves on foot. After a half day’s hike we shall relax in our village.

Day 5: A bus will take us towards south for canoeing down the magnificent wild-west-like canyons of Zrmanja and Krupa Rivers, used for shooting some of the best scenes of Karl May’s Winnetou westerns. Easy rapids, swimming in clear waters and under waterfalls, riverside picnic. In the late afternoon walk through narrow and busy streets surrounded with old city walls of Zadar - ancient town on Adriatic coast.

Day 6: Relaxing day in a country life atmosphere, with a bike trip through the forest road to Corkova Uvala, the core forest area of the national park. Evening campfire and barbecue by the river in Korana Village.

Day 7: A day free to relax or make a private trip in the park. Optionally you can go to nearby Bosnian town of Bihac for unforgetable rafting trip in Una River Canyon, ending with a real Bosnian lunch and Turkish coffee.

Day 8: Departure in the morning.

*This "Canoeing Croatia" itinerary is subject to change depending on group abilities and wishes, weather, water levels, special events of interest and similar. Huck Finn reserves the right to alternate program without prior notice.

Maximum number of participants: 14 pax per group. Larger groups on request.

Minimum age: 8 years if accompanied by parent.

Children discount (10%) is valid for children 10-14 years of age if accompanied by an adult. 1 child enjoying discount shares parents’ room, 2 or more children can have their own room.

Rooms: Please note that the houses in Korana Village have 2 and 3 bed rooms, with 2 rooms sharing bathroom.

Optional trip on day 7 is NOT included in price and can be booked and paid on spot.
