- SEASPLASH REGGAE FESTIVAL
When: Jul 2007 (annual)
Where: Pula, Croatia
Cost: Advance = K80; 3 days K200 - On the day = K100; 3 days K250
What: Three days of non-stop partying with well-known DJs and live bands from Italy, the UK, France, Jamaica and Germany, including an appearance by The Twinkle Brothers. Offers shopping stalls, food & drink and more music.
- INTERNATIONAL FOLKLORE FESTIVAL
When: 18 - 22 Jul 2007 (annual)
Where: Zagreb, Croatia
Cost: Various
What: Hosts exhibitions, folk and global music concerts, dance and music workshops, books and CD presentations at various venues around the city. Revolves around several themes: Sounds and Echoes of Ireland, Women and Traditional Music and Folk Sacral Singing. Guests include top-class Irish performers Flook and flute player and whistler Eamonn Barra. Also offers a two-day dance workshop where you can learn about the traditional dances of Morocco.
- DANCE & NON-VERBAL THEATRE FESTIVAL
When: Jul 2007 (annual)
Where: Svetvincenat, Croatia
What:Presentation of contemporary dance productions, street-theatre projects, circus performances and other forms of non-verbal artistic expression. Complemented by off-programme dance, mime and performance workshops.
Focuses on recent European choreographers, the best Croatian works in the current theatrical season and performances by Croatian dancers who work in renowned foreign dance companies.
- RAB FESTIVAL
When: Jul 2007 (annual)
Where: Rab, Croatia
Cost: Free
What: Rapska Fjera, Rab's Medieval Week, is a costumed event recreating the customs, traditional crafts and way of life in the Middle Ages. Held in the streets of the oldest part of the town, the festivities begin in the afternoon every day and last well past midnight. Highlights include the Old Crafts Fair and the traditional Knight's Games Parade, which is followed by a crossbow competition. Delicious local food is on offer and musical performances take place throughout the town.
- MOTOVUN FILM FESTIVAL
When: 24 - 28 July 2007 (annual)
Where: Motovun, Croatia
Cost: Various
What: Nicknamed “Film Woodstock” the event attracts over 40,000 young travelers, students and film fans who mostly pitch tents in eco-cmaps around the mountain where it takes place. Around 100 films compete for the prestigious Propeller award, previously won by the likes of Lars Von Trier (Dogville) and Stephen Daldry (Billy Elliott). Created as a festival for filmmakers rather than the industry, the event has managed to keep to its original idea. A totally excellent Croatia event!
- ZAGREB BAROQUE FESTIVAL
When: Jul - Aug 2007 (annual)
Where: Zagreb, Croatia
Cost: K50; Le Parlement de Musique & Red Priest concerts K80
What: Part of the Summer Evenings series, with 30 concerts at venues around the city, including the beautiful Zagreb Cathedral and St Catherine's Church. Musicians and other artists from Croatia, Italy, France, Finland, Belgium and the UK invite visitors to travel through music history with the enchanting sights & sounds of baroque. Spiritual music, old recitals, authentic instruments, organ concerts, well-known soloists and orchestras all enrich the cultural summer.
- INTERNATIONAL TENOR COMPETITION
When:Jul 20 - Aug 4 2007 (annual)
Where: Trogir, Croatia
What: Competition gives young tenors from around the world the opportunity to perform in front of an international audience. The highlight of the competition is the Gala Concert in Trogir's Kamerlengo fort, where the singers are accompanied by a symphony orchestra.
