  • Croatia Travel Requirements: Visas

    Citizens of Australia, Canada, Ireland, Isreal, Japan, New Zealand, the UK, the USA and most continental European countries can enter and for stays up to 90 days without a visa.

    However visitors must hold a return/onward ticket, sufficient funds and a valid passport.

    EU residents can enter with a national ID card.

    Croatia is on Central European Time which is GMT/UTC plus one hour.

    Each region has an area code beginning with 0. Drop the O when calling from outside the country.

    Mobile Phones: A GSM mobile will work within the country.

    Public phones: Uses a calling card which can be purchased at any newsstand.

    The Croatian currency is the Kuna and the exchange rate tied to the Euro.

    Prices of accommodation and airfares are usually given in Euros although you pay in Kuna.

  • Credit Cards & ATM's

    All major credit cards are normally accepted throughout the country. Visa, Mastercard, Cirrus, Plus, Maestro, and Eurocard are the most accepted.

    Bring cash for some restaurants and private accommodation. ATM's are common except on the most remote islands.

    Traveler's Checks are also accepted.

    Before making you Croatia travel plans, it's a good idea to check the local weather for that time of year.

    Along the coast: Mediterranean (dry summers, mild winters) with an 2,600 hours of yearly sunlight making it one of the sunniest places in Europe.

    Inland: Climate is continental with hot summers and cold, snowy winters.


  • When to Go

    Weatherwise, April to September are the best months to travel.

    The tourist high-season is July-August and is the most expensive time to go.

    September is probably the best time to visit since the holiday crowds have thinned-out, prices are reduced to off-season rates and fruits such as figs and grapes come into season.

    You can swim in the sea from mid-June to late September.
