    Split Croatia - How to Get There


Split Croatia is an important transportation hub for Dalmatia and the greater region. In addition to the Zagreb-Split highway (A1), all the road traffic along the Adriatic coast on the Zadar–Dubrovnik route flows through the city.

By Air

The airport in Kaštela is the third largest in Croatia in terms of passenger numbers (788,000 in 2004).

Flights connect with Zagreb several times a day, and there are services direct to Frankfurt in Germany as well as other European capitals.

By Boat

International ferries run from Ancona, Pesacra and Bari in Italy.

Split is also on route for national coastal ferries which run from Rijeka to Dubrovnik.

From the city port, Jadrolinija ferries can take you to the Islands of Hvar, Korcula, Brac and Vis and other Islands.

By Bus

Split is a major hub for national buses.

Travel time from:

  • Dubrovnik(4 ˝ hours)

  • Rijeka (8 hours)

  • Zadar (3 hours)

By Train

Trains run from Split to the north of the country and further on to Europe.

There are daily trains services to Zagreb with the journey taking about 6 hours.

You also can catch trains to Sibenik and Zadar. This is the only train that runs along Croatia’s coast.

By Car

Split can be reached by the scenic and winding Adriatic Coastal Road or through the hinterland roads.

It will take you 5 hours to get to there from Zagreb and 4 hours from Dubrovnik.
