11th ZADAR THEATRICAL SUMMER

When: June 26 – August 2, 2005

Where : Trg Pet Bunara (Square of the Five Wells), Church of St. Dominic, Courtyard Providurove Palace

What: A traditional summer cultural event which this year is dedicated to music, dance and stage performance consisting of two parts:

Part 1: BALLET AND CONTEMPORARY DANCE – dance ensembles from Croatia and abroad will be performing.

Part 2. FESTIVAL OF CONTEMPORARY MUSIC – Jazz, blues, ethno-jazz and gospel concerts performed by Croatian and foreign artists.

Shows, concerts performances will be held in cultural-historical surroundings of the city of Zadar.

45th MUSICAL EVENINGS IN ST. DONATUS

When: July 5 – August 10, 2005

Where: Forum (opening ceremony), Sv. Donat (St. Donatus), Sv. Krševan (St. Chrysogonus), Forecourt of the Providur Palace

What: An international musical festival conceived in the form of two cycles: Musica Antiqua (Middle ages, renaissance and early baroque music) and Musica da Camera.

Performances by renowned musicians from Croatia and abroad. Event has been held since 1960.

9th “ZADAR DREAM” INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL OF NEW THEATRE AND PERFORMANCE ART

When: August 9-14, 2005

Where: Peninsula – Old City Centre

What: An international festival of new theatre and performance art – a multimedia project of street theatre, performance, installations and interventions of theatre and fine artists in an urban space.

Event’s aim is active communication with urban inhabitants, while the main thematic framework is: “site specific art” (Mediterranean aspect of contemporary theatres and performance art at specific locations), “land art” and “street art”.

First held in 1997.

STRINGS ONLY - ZADAR 2005 14th INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL OF YOUNG STRING PLAYERS

When: Sept 17 – Oct 1, 2005

Where: Church of St. Donat (concerts), Punta Skala (school)

What: An international musical event of an educational and festival character.

Consists of master courses under the leadership of renowned music pedagogues and an international festival of young string and guitar players.

Festival program offers six to eight (free) concerts of which one is of a competitive nature – the best young musicians are awarded with sponsorship awards.

The festival program ends with a formal concert.

Participating in the music workshops are gifted young children from all around the world.

Founder and artistic director: world renowned violoncellist, Valter Dešpalj.
