Zagreb
"Cafes, Culture & Charm."
CITY OF MUSEUMS
Zagreb, Croatia's capital, is a city where gracious old-world charm pulsates with vibrant youthful energy.
In Zagreb – which is over 900 hundred years old - you’ll find more museums per square foot than any other city in the world.
What you’ll also find here are about 40,000 college students, most of them attending the University, the Croatian Academy of Arts and Sciences or one of the many schools for the arts.
NIGHTLIFE
Nightlife in this city starts late, usually kicking off around 9 p.m. You can start your night barhopping between the café bars near the main square of Ban Jelacic – all serve alcohol. It's a local tradition to meet people at these bars and then go nightclubbing around midnight. The locals love to party, so be prepared on staying out until the sun comes up.
CAFE SOCIETY Another thing you can enjoy with the Zagrebcani (locals) is join them at one of the numerous cafes, watching the world go by.
SIGHTSEEING If you’re looking for something a little mellower, you can visit the city’s many beautiful parks, historical monuments, art galleries and museums. Walking is a great way to see the sights as Zagreb is easy to get around or you can simply hop on a tram. The best thing to do is head for Trg Bana Jelacica, the main square in the city. From here you are within walking distance of all the major attractions. The city is divided into three parts: 1.The thousand-year old Gornji grad (upper town) which contains the Presidential Palace, the historic church of St. Mark's, the Croatian parliament, and museums and galleries which are all set in cobbled streets lit by gas lamps; 2. The 19th century Dolnji grad (lower town) with its shops, restaurants, cafes, theatres, parks; and… 3. The modern post-war (WWII) Novi Zagreb (new Zagreb) which is full of high-rise buildings and basically has nothing to offer.
